Crocheted Flower Pattern
I tried taking some pictures for this tutorial, but they didn't look very helpful to me. So, for now, here is the pattern minus photos.
Using a size H hook, chain 4. Join the end to the first chain with a slip stitch to form a ring.
Round 1: (single crochet in the ring, chain 3) 6 times. Again, join the last stitch to the first single crochet with a slip stitch.
Round 2: (single crochet, chain 1, 3 double crochets, chain 1, single crochet) in each space created by the chain 3.
Round 3: Now you begin working in the back of the flower you have started creating. (single crochet around the first spoke, then chain 4) 6 times. Join last stitch to first stitch with a slip stitch.
Round 4: (single crochet, chain 1, 5 double crochets, chain 1, single crochet) in each space created by the chain 4.
Round 5: Repeat round 3, but chain 5 instead of 4. Join last stitch to first with a slip stitch and weave in ends.
If you want to add another layer of petals, repeat Round 3, increasing the number of stitches in the chain by one, and Round 4, increasing the double crochets by two.

I almost always use worsted weight yarn for these flowers and a size G or H crochet hook.

Round two creates swags. The area between them is the spoke. Thats how i worked it and my flower came out great. This is my first attempt at a flower. Thanks for the easy pattern.

So.. round 3 is the base of what you will build the petals off of in round 4.
So, my question is that why do we go back to round 3 over and over with no mention of doing round 4 again?
If I have completely misinterpreted this pattern, please let me know. I work graveyard shift and should have been in bed 2 hours ago.. so, maybe my reading skills are just sub par. Everyone else seems to think this is so easy, so it must be me. LOL

However, i did stumble at the part SC'ing in the spokes. A picture there would have been helpful. Then the blonde moment subsided and i figured it out. ^_^
1. They use a ton of yarn, unnecessary in my opinion, since you're just creating an accessory for other items.
2. The patterns are confusing, especially working on small-piece work.
3. They turn out too big, even when I use a smaller hook or smaller-gauge yarn and just become saggy on the hats and things I add them to.
Lesson learned: Just stick with this one! The instructions are simple, the result is the perfect size, and it uses such a little amount of yarn.
My old standby is my old standby for a reason! Thank you so much for this pattern! I love it!
