Something New: Punch Needle

My Instagram feed has been full of punch needle projects, so I decided to give it a try. I watched bookhou's class on Creative Bug and then purchased my supplies. I bought some smaller sized stretcher bars for small projects but decided to make my own gripper frames for larger projects, one 12" and 18". My sister made the actual frames and I stapled on the gripper strips that I found on Etsy. I also purchased several different sizes of monk's cloth to experiment. For my first project, I decided to make a stool cover for this perfect IKEA stool. I traced out a random design on paper and then transferred it to the monk's cloth (changed the design several times) and started punching! This is an easy and fun craft and you'll see results quickly. I like that the punch needle work doesn't really have a wrong or right side. The fluffier side has loops that can then be snipped for a tufted look. I need to decide what my second project will be!
