Balaclava No. 1

This balaclava is the second project I knit during my holiday staycation. I'd been wanting a balaclava to wear for my wintertime bike commute and on several occasions, almost made purchases I found when browsing online. I knew I could easily knit one but had not come across the perfect pattern until Balaclava No. 1 from My Favourite Things Knitwear. This pattern is knit in a seed stitch rib and combines cashmere and mohair. I used Valley Yarns Brodie, a cashmere and merino blend, in spring meadow and Valley Yarns Southampton, a mohair silk blend, in spring moss. I had to go up a needle size to meet gauge, so I ended up not having enough yarn to finish the project. Luckily, I had just received some Purl Soho yarn in the mail that I could use to complete the neck and edge ribbing. I really love the complementary contrast between the two yarns; this was a happy mistake!
