Field Bag

 

This is the Field Bag that was originally designed and sold by Fringe Supply Co. Since Fringe Supply Co. is no longer operating as a retail business, the Field Bag is now available as a pattern and kit from Grainline Studio. I bought the kit that contains both the fabric and notions, but also bought the print-at-home pattern to make additional bags. If you buy the fabric and notions kit, the fabric is already precut and you are ready to start sewing. The cotton duck canvas in the kit is the same fabric that was used for the production of the pre-made Field Bags and has a water repellent finish, so you do not want to pre-wash the fabric in order for it to retain its stiffness and stand on its own. There are two interior pockets–one with grommets to manage multiple yarns and the other for holding various tools and miscellany. I really like the drawstring top and wrist strap. This was a quick project and the construction is pretty clever. Grainline Studio also has a series of Field Bag sew-along videos that are helpful for beginners.
